I've arrived and a little late with this post. As a quick update, my voice is back (all I needed was a good nap).
So I survived that flight and landed into rainy and chilly Paris where my chariot awaited me (read: A packed Super Shuttle bus was revving on the curb and I had to squeeze into the front seat with my newfound friend Walter from Brazil). Our driver (who is from India) was immediately smitten with me and began to make jokes as I dozed off in the front seat as we crawled our way through Paris afternoon traffic.
Once we hit Paris, I felt that "pretty, butterflies in my stomach, tinkerbell flitting around my head, puppies playing" kinda feeling that could only mean one thing...I WAS IN LOVE! No silly, not with the Super Shuttle driver. WITH PARIS!
This city is beautiful, old, charming, quaint, bright, busy, slow, vibrant, exciting, crazy, AMAZING! And the driver decided that he would drop me off at my hotel last so that he could treat me to a bootleg tour of the city.
Now y'all, driving around in Paris is worse than New York (if you can imagine). But I was on Cloud 9 as we zoomed around turns and circles, dodging everything from Smart Cars to mopeds and people. My 5 cent tour of Paris included The Louvre, Eiffel Tour, the Grand Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Champs de Élysées, Seine River, Rue de Rivoli, the whole shebang. And I was moved. And felt blessed and lucky and thankful and high as I was introduced to my new love that was magnificent even in all its rainy, dreary glory.
I don't consider myself easy. But Paris didn't even have to take me to dinner or meet my parents or tell me it loved me before I wanted to marry it and have its French babies! HA!
Can't wait to get to know you better Paris, my love!
The Eiffel Tower
A beautiful hotel near the Louvre
The Champs de Élysées with the Arc de Triomphe in the farrrrr distance. This picture does not do justice for just how gorgeous this street is!

Beautiful, the rain makes it look more mysterious .. kinda like a James Bond movie :)
